the world's most powerful alarm clock
since i was up a little later than usual last night watching the hockey game after seeing a show with joe, i was hoping to sleep in just a little bit. it was not meant to be.
i guess i was at some conference or something, in a small group with joe and maybe a friend or two from high school. nat or someone wanted us to each give some small talk, so joe started up. his was of course about beagle. i didn't really pay attention.
soon, i was up, and was supposed to talk about writing modules and drivers for hula. of course, i hadn't prepared at all, so i just kind of started rambling. apparently we were a little behind schedule, so people started trickling in in anticipation of the next talk.
a couple of girls asked for my name; they were apparently seeking autographs. i had assumed they wanted nat's or miguel's, but apparently it was ben kahn's that they were after.
people couldn't hear well, so i had to speak up, and i started talking about why security is important when writing services such as imap etc. when i looked down at my left hand and noticed i was missing most of my ring, middle, and index fingers. i vaguely remembered some sort of incident with a knife, but this was still a disturbing discovery. i then realized, i will never be able to learn how to play guitar now, and this thought was so disturbing that i woke myself up, and immediately counted the fingers on each hand.
as i went to type this, i got a panic from os x. i can tell this is going to be an awesome day.
