on the way to the trash

this afternoon i was really wishing a hockey game was on tonight, but alas, none are on.

i was getting a few bills together, and there was a letter from RCN in there. i thought maybe they wanted to know how the cablecard install went, or something, so i read it. it was actually about some program guide changes, blah blah, and then this gem:

  • IMPORTANT -- All saved DVR programming will be erased and recording settings will need to be reset by you

reason #23987298 not to use a cable company-provided dvr.

reason #23987299? tivo had a game from saturday night all ready for me as i sat down to write this.

just rip it and win

in a section entitled "The benefits of a bachelor's," cnn makes the following claim:

Full-time workers aged 25-34 with college degrees make an average of $14,000 a year more than those with high school diplomas.

but if you have to pay off $120k in college costs, which the article claims is average, you'll only end up with $20k extra in that time, which you could have easily made in the four years of not going to school.

renewed faith

the other day i was thinking that it was lame that bush is talking about changing his strategy in iraq only for political reasons, not because he thinks it's the right or smart thing to do. but then i realized, that that's kind of what democracy is about... the threat of the people's will being important.

ben & jerry's strawberry cheesecake ice cream is pretty good. it had this dark swirl on the front, which at the store i thought was chocolate, because sometimes cheesecake will have some chocolate sauce, or something, but it turns out it is a cheesecake crust, and is very tasty.

i ran my first marathon this weekend. it was windy. i am sore.

i have been enjoying the apostle of hustle album.

finally i want to send a big shout-out to the awesome people at hdnet. instead of showing pittsburgh and philly, they showed the exciting atlanta vs. buffalo game. good thing, because philly got routed 8-2.

that's all i have.
