these cows aren't making you uncomfortable?
friday can't come soon enough.
today i did my taxes and walked to bunker hill. that one bridge still totally freaks me out.
the other day i got mail from rcn saying that they were canceling ovation and women's entertainment. i was like awesome are they adding espnu and espn2 hd? no. spike hd and the man show channel.

time warp
i set my phone's alarm for 11 just in case i may have slept until my noon meeting. i woke up at 8 from a dream where i was walking around my elementary school, and beat it was playing in each classroom. some of my friends where there, dancing. it's a tough call, and shocking, but i think phil was the better dancer over joe.
my phone's alarm clock didn't go off until noon, though, because its clock didn't change on its own. stupid thing. i thought i had these time changes licked!

i should be the one
i woke up this morning around 8 or 9 because i could not move my tongue, my mouth was so dry, must be from allergy pills. i got a glass or two of water, and thought about getting up, but was floored by exhaustion and slept like the dead for a couple more hours. had a dream that someone came to fix the toilet, and when i woke up again it still didn't fill much. took a while for me to figure that one out.
since then i've been eating all day. this happened yesterday too, and i could only stay awake for like 12 hours yesterday. i figure either i'm sick or with child, so i went to the store to get one of those test things with the colors and the math signs. but i spilled grape juice on it before i could get it to work. i'd go get another one but i will not endure those looks again. "Star Market: We Judge You As We Take Your Money" service with a sneer++.
the nice thing about working from home is that not only does my office have a window, but i can open it and have a nice breeze on nice days like today. if only i had time to go outside! but i guess this is the price i pay for sleeping 15 hours a day.
while looking at what dvds besides the west wing season 4 came out this week, i noticed that the greatest american hero is actually out on dvd! i am going to get it, and then make my friends watch it so they can make fun of me. i am going to further assure this by including this email i found on the internet:
Date: Wed, 26 Mar 1997 00:48:40 -0500 (EST) From: Phil Schwan <pschwan@apk.net> Subject: TMBG: Linnell Pictures :) Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.3.95.970326004719.22175A-100000@all.the.best.people.are.perverts.org> Since my SO is bugging me to cut my hair and I have absolutely no idea what to do with it, I think I'm gonna try a Linnell cut. Anyone have a good photograph that I could FTP or have mailed to me? I'd really appreciate it. I have TMBG performing on Conan, but it doesn't really give any kind of good shot of his hair for any period of time. i hope this makes his day in the same way it made mine. or at least remotely similar.

20 minutes in canada
i spent 3 hours this morning dreaming about trying to get to c'town because phil, nic, and ???? had left me behind. when i woke up i realized that this was just like the first episode of season 4, which i watched shortly before bed last night. it's a good episode.
anyway now that the shows are so close i can't really concentrate on anything so i'm going to go run for a while.

a grand summer ahead
i'm sitting in my living room building a kernel listening to jsb with the windows open. the 7 channel speakers are awesome; you don't have to turn it up too loud to fill the room with sound.
which is good, because i don't think i can turn it up as loud as i'd like. fortunately, i think my downstairs neighbors vacation during the summer...

the second season i am to know
i could stay up all night listening to the rain and elliott smith.
i love spring. well, except for all the capri pants. ugh.

the wave
a lot of the first set was by request; i requested thin ice before the show, and before they played it craig said it was probably the last time they'd ever play it. sorry phil, i tried :(

insane to lose your mind
my weekend was not unlike tycho's, in that i started out behind on sleep and well just never caught up.
this morning i awoke around 3:50 drenched in sweat. there was some fire alarm going off in my dream, which i think had something to do with my old sanyo phone which had something wrong with it. it was like really hot, and the plastic was all melty. i was trying to get rid of it but my sister didn't want me to for some reason. anyway when the fire alarm went off i put on this plastic visor hat thing that like lit up when the fire alarm went off. i had matching shoes that i was trying to put on as well. they were too small.
it was in new york. i wish i could draw cause the background looked cool.
before that i was in some classroom, and some students or something were talking about me. someone had written on the chalkboard that i was the smartest person ever. then someone said despite my learning disability in statistics, i had gone on to write all this statistics software. i told them i didn't know i had stats ld, but it did explain why i didn't understand that stuff at all.
it's kind of a good thing i woke up; i had set my alarm for 3:45 but accidentally in the pm. but phil's phone was going to wake us up in a few minutes anyway so it would have been ok.
btw jsb's albums are like $8 in mp3 format on the internet: studio, live. the studio album is on iTMS as well for those of you who prefer to pay more for DRM-enabled files.
the trees by so-called audubon circle have started blooming; highs in the 50s all week; it's after 7 and the sun is still up.
do not buy these speakers. they hiss terribly. these are fine, though.

on and on and on and on
it is a sad morning indeed when i have neither eggs nor bread in my apartment.
i got a reply to my inquiry regarding the hissing speakers:
Thank you for your inquiry. The GMXA2.1 does have a hiss unlike the THX model 2.1.
i haven't decided whether to try to return them, which is a pain because they weigh 33 pounds, or to just put them in the server room where a little hiss won't be noticed. this struggle typifies the duality of my motives: am i more angry and stubborn, or lazy? i'm still pretty tired from the weekend, so it'll probably be the latter.

April 13, 2005
i win
i called apple today, and they are shipping me another remote. they don't even sell the thing i got, so i guess they can't even set up a return so i get to keep it. the hissing speakers are now in the server room, where they are drowned out by cpu fans.
i wish i had something interesting to say.

thanks
this morning i got woken up by plumbers calling to tell me that they'd be in between noon and four.
four o'clock rolled around without a visit.
it's just after 7, i finally get a call saying they couldn't make it out; that they want to come by at 9:30 tomorrow morning, but was i up for that? no.
i had a great day.

yum
the eggs i get are not only delicious, but they sometimes have funny stories that come with them:

the plumber didn't come last night either, so i'm thinking of not being home when he comes on tuesday. the only problem there is that it won't lead to my toilet getting fixed.

it hurts when i breathe
those of you in australia this week sure are missing some nice weather. it was weird monday when the temperature was 76F and all the trees were bare. today, all the trees have green buds and flowers and it is starting to look like spring.
over the weekend i installed FC2 on my lustre machines, since that's the last FC that can build 2.4 kernels out of the box. here are some kernels i've tried:
i found my phone yesterday. it was in my pocket.

it's time to retire
at some point in the last 5 years, something happened with APIC which led me to turn it off on all the machines i could. well, turning it back on seems to fix the booting problems above. who knew.

i can see through time
last night, joe and i (and joe's spiffy new specs!) had dinner at kashmir in back bay. there were a couple of "lamb in a curry sauce with exotic spices" dishes, and i wasn't quite sure how to tell the difference between them, so i just went with the lamb vindaloo. it was mind alteringly delicious.
keeping with the time traveling theme, when i got home last night i sat down and started reading some PA. the next thing i know, it's 2 hours later.

reliving my youth one sequel at a time
phil must be pretty lonely these days, because he drove all the way to brookline and then chestnut hill just so we could relive our youth with copies of railroad tycoon 3. it was pretty slow going for a while, but things finally started looking up for me when i realized that shipping corn to farms and coal to mines was not going to feed the proverbial monkey, as it were.
sadly, it's 4 am and the weekend is still 2 days away...
dream last night was about breaking into a bank or something with my high school friends, then having to kill people during the get away.
