welcome to the jungle

this is a boring entry. my life is boring. except for hockey. after last night's game i don't really want to talk about that.

the past couple of weeks at work have been spent largely fighting the 2.4 and 2.6 kernel build systems. while challenging, it hasn't been all that fun or rewarding. but i kind of like what i've ended up with.

i'm editing this on my new 2.6-testing box (in Lustre, of course), and previewing it served from a 2.4 client. so far, so good.

i also am in the process of setting up a second OSS (the type of node that actually stores data on it). i have to do some hard-drive super-swap before that plan can go into action, though.

in keeping with the cookie theme, these two boxes are called verona and brussels, respectively. last night i thought it was funny that i name boxes after cookies which are named after cities which are themselves probably named after something else.

i went shopping with phil the other day. he got a label-maker and a new cordless landline phone. i got a garbage can, a paper shredder, and some metal shelving for the computers.

who came up with this new modprobe? ugh.
