the august sun is as hot as i remember it to be.
cleaned my cube and installed windows on my laptop. it's amazing how difficult that is.
found out the unmatched vfolder was using like 17M of memory on my machine in evo, so i've disabled it.
got office space. it's funny.
yesterday i broke down and bought ok computer and amnesiac. apparently i am becoming a radiohead fan. i am as amazed as you are.
ordered an extra power adaptor for my laptop since this week alone i have left mine at home.
found a fun bug if in glade you try to create shlib bonobo components which use libglade... segv since glade and libglade export a function with the same name (glade_init). sent a patch to damon.

so here are some things i don't want to rant about:
saw radiohead last week - pretty much ruled. we got there at like 11:30 AM and were something like 15 feet from the stage. i am glad that i started liking radiohead like 2 weeks before the show.
bought like 9 cd's or so saturday, including "2 Remixes by AFX" which rules.
released gnome-file-selector and libgnomefilesel.
spent the first half of yesterday building nautilus on hp-ux again, so that mr. meeks could debug the malloc 800M bug. couldn't reproduce it - just bad matches seem to be there. anyway it turns out that it seems to have manifested itself on his laptop, and he thinks it may have something to do with mismatched .idl stuff.
spent today fixing a fun bug in evo - one that you need CVS ORBit to see the effects of. there is still a bug in the patch, but it is in CVS nonetheless.
feeling bored.
did another release of libgnomefilesel as i got the gtk filesel fallback working. clist bites me again. of course since then, i've found a stupid bug but it doesn't much matter.
built gnome 2 on my laptop, which seems to have found a possible bug in the linux kernel. passing 0 for the length to mmap() has linux returning NULL, whilst solaris and hp-ux (correctly, i think) return -1 in this case. sent mail to linux-kernel and am currently awaiting the large amount of flamage i will get. also stupidly didn't send from my @assbarn.com address, so lost the humour in a possible kernel traffic appearance. oh well.
after doing a (trivially) easy workaround for that "bug", finished building (almost) the rest of gnome 2. libgnomeprintui still wants some headers which have been removed (gnome-paper.h). overall, it built fairly easy. running things, OTOH, is another story.
anyway got the libgnomefilesel into bonoboui - noticed that bonoboui cannot call the nice gnome window icon functions which blows a lot. too bad they aren't in gtk. and i bet i can't get them in. oh well. got the bonobo_file_selector_* working with the gtk fallback (as the component hasn't been ported - it requires gal which might take some time).
got libzvt to build after mucking with configure.in - sadly zterm doesn't run. sigh. the same gnome-pty-helper that bites every time. seems odd that it would break, as the source is the same as in gnome 1! i have no idea what it could be. this is distressing.
overall gnome 2 needs a lot of work - lots of weird things happening in the tests. this is good, as it will give me something to do.
got a call from uhaul - there will be a truck to move my (limited) belongings on the 2nd, so i will have to live in the barracks for a couple of days. sadly joe's lot is somewhat worse, and i am infinitely saddened by this. hmm i think i have been hanging around meeks too much as i feel like i am talking like him.
still using galeon.
didn't sleep very well last night, and am pretty tired today. being on benadryl does not help this either. it is funny though how i have a nice sneeze attack every 6 hours or so (when the benadryl wears off). fortunately these days i only take 1 pill at a time so i am not a space zombie.
porting gnome-terminal to gnome 2. it's going well.
not looking forward to moving this weekend. looking forword to having moved, next week.
