fall is here. it is cold and stuff - slept in too long due to this.

sucky weekend. mostly walked around and read and stuff. got some decent cds. after getting home last night played some nhl 2k2 w/ joe.

started reading a staggering work of heartbreaking genius again since i figure i missed some stuff the first time. got the paperback version with the picture of the child and the dandelion on the back cover. an amusing story someone will appreciate follows.

so the back cover is the front cover of the addendum (eggars thinks he is cute and funny [ actually he doesn't ]). the title of that is mistakes we knew we were making, and has a picture of a small child (toph?) blowing on a dandelion. so i had the book lying face down (ie, back cover facing up) at algiers and carrie asked, is that some kind of therapy book?

spent all day on snapshots - currently glib and atk build for rh 7.1. working on pango.

it's all happening so fast.

every friday we get like pizza or burritos delivered to the office and have lunch (originally i think it was a trick to get people to come in on friday, not unlike the food-at-10-am to get people to come in in the morning). sometimes there are company-wide meetings at these lunches, where nat has us clap and cheer for whomever has been doing their job in the last week or two.

anyway, these important meetings are either never announced, or announced at like 9 am on friday on irc so often times they get missed by certain people [ cough ]. so like, today, on a tuesday, i get email that there is going to be one of these meetings and we should all be there.

this can mean only one thing.

and i am not even ready.

got up to libbonoboui building. should get libgnomeui, libzvt, and libglade on tuesday. hopefully a red carpet channel soon (yes, the company is big enough now that i can't just do that myself).

finished a staggering work of heartbreaking genius, and started on hemingway vs. fitzgerald: the rise and fall of a literary friendship. so far pretty interesting.

got kid assbarn and a mu-ziq album. i never liked kid-assbarn, but wanted to hear that version of morning bell (cause the amnesiac one i don't like). i had also not listened to kid assbarn much, and found that i actually like it. listening to anthem was weird because that's what they opened the concert this summer with, and once it started i could remember the beginning of the concert: how it sounded, the surge of people, one of the band members trying to get the audio people to turn him up...

speaking of cd's, bt and aphex twin are both coming up with cds on the 23rd. i hope my pancreas can handle the excitement.

seriously though. bt. aphex twin. the same day. think about it.

watched some simpsons and SNL with joe. the girl from UCB (the comedy central show, not the college) that's on it now rules.

apparently hemingway was an ass.

uneventful, relaxing day. played nhl 2002 and read, mostly. also watched the news stuff for a while in the afternoon. i never thought much of peter jennings but he impressed me. at one point they showed a simulation of a b1 dropping a bomb in the desert, and he complained that he didn't like the simulations because the reminded him of star wars, where of course every simulation was successful.

last night had dreams about being in third grade. as in, not being all little and in third grade, but if i was to take it again right now. it was interesting - i was thinking how different i was in that i would wear my headphones and not worry about getting in trouble and stuff.

the really weird part was that some time last week i had a dream with a couple of teachers from elementary school in it, and after i had woken up i was thinking how i could remember just about every teacher i had in elementary school, except for my third grade english teacher (whom i hated).

anyway, in the dream last night i remembered that teacher's name (mrs. douglas) and i remembered it after i woke up. although now i am worried that that wasn't her name. but i'll assume it is, and be amazed at what my subconcious is capable of.

apparently, i was alive when this was going on, but i have never ever heard of it until today while watching espn classic (they show TWIB from the 70's. it's crazy). i don't know how i have gone so long without hearing anything about this. it is unsettling. [ incidentally i do remember the bears / patriots superbowl which was a year or two after this ].

played a bunch more nhl 2002. had 3 games in a row where i scored on my first shot. jagr is averaging over 2 goals per game in the playoffs.

it's 6 am. bt and aphex twin cds come out today. also, new wendy's opens. i have been trying to reproduce some bugs meeks has, with little to no success.

found out that at some point speedstep started kicking in on my laptop, which seems to suck a lot, as right now my cpu won't go above 640 MHz (it's a 750). earlier today it was stuck at 375 MHz.

i don't think i am going to last much longer living completely on coke (the beverage), marshmallows, and benadryl. only time will tell at this point, and if it's time to move on it's time to move on.

awake at 10 from weird nightmare where some guy (possibly the super of our building, since he has a dog) worked at a burger king making a linux distro based off of us or red hat or something - anyway it was pretty crappy etc. and then his dog / tiger attacked me or something and i woke up.

the aphex twin cds are alright... not too fond of the piano-ish tracks. the 2nd bt cd is ok, except for the hip hop phenomenon / godspeed transition which completely rocks. the first cd is really good, like a smoother escm but with more trancey stuff.

whee

these days i hack combinations of perl, python, m4, shell, C, and make throughout the day. oh and sometimes these things are generated, too. this can't be good for me.
